A multi-facility restoration project for the City of Hurst
Chisholm Aquatic Center and Central Aquatics Center in Hurst, TX both received targeted restoration work to help preserve existing aquatic assets and improve the overall presentation of high-visibility attractions.
Outdoor aquatic attractions are constantly exposed to sunlight, water chemistry, and seasonal use. Over time, those conditions can lead to oxidation, fading, coating deterioration, and common fiberglass wear. This project focused on practical restoration work that helped refresh the attractions without positioning replacement as the only option.
Addressing oxidation, fading, and surface wear
One of the most visible conditions on the project was oxidation and fading across several fiberglass attractions and aquatic play feature components. These issues are common on outdoor aquatic attractions, especially in high-UV environments where surfaces are exposed to sunlight, water chemistry, and repeated seasonal operation.
For the enclosed flumes, our crews completed a chemical wash, polish, and wax process to help remove oxidation, improve gloss, and refresh the surface appearance. On the body slides, exterior coating work helped restore a brighter, cleaner overall appearance.
What the work included
- Common fiberglass repairs throughout multiple slide attractions
- Chemical wash, polish, and wax services on enclosed flumes
- Exterior coating restoration on yellow and orange body slides
- Steel restoration work on the Aquatics Play Unit and splash feature structures
Restoration before replacement
Aging fiberglass attractions do not always require immediate replacement. Targeted restoration can help facilities extend service life, improve presentation, and make smarter use of offseason maintenance budgets.
Exterior coating restoration
The yellow and orange body slides received exterior coating restoration to address visible fading and restore a cleaner, brighter appearance across the attractions.
Helping preserve existing aquatic assets
The completed restoration helped refresh the appearance of multiple attractions while supporting continued use of existing assets. The before-and-after photos show a clear improvement in color, gloss, and overall facility presentation, especially on the restored exterior slide coatings and polished enclosed flumes.
For municipal facilities, projects like this are about more than a visual refresh. They are part of a practical long-term maintenance strategy that helps protect capital investments, improve guest presentation, and plan ahead for future aquatic needs.
"Everything went really well. Barry was amazing to work with throughout the project. Great energy, strong communication, and always on top of everything. The onsite crew was also great to work with, and Madelyn was incredibly helpful as well."Feedback shared by the City of Hurst team
